You believe you know everything there is to know about your spouse once you get married. However, one woman, Angela, just came to a startling realization that caused her to doubt her marriage. She discovered some unsettling entries in her husband’s diary, which made her question whether she should divorce him.
Early Warning Signs
In a letter, 33-year-old Angela told her tale and sought guidance. She clarified that although she and her husband, Andrew, have been married for five years, they had known one another for ten and had dated for three years prior to their marriage.
She disregarded a warning sign that preceded their connection. Given his high salary and penchant for lavish presents, it was unexpected that Andrew gave her such an inexpensive ring when he proposed. Andrew remarked, “Material things don’t matter,” in response to Angela’s slight displeasure. When you pass away, you cannot take them with you. How I feel about you is what counts.
This abrupt change in his conduct made Angela apprehensive, but she didn’t let it get to her. She decided to concentrate on her happiness with him and proceeded with the marriage.
An Upsetting Finding
The marriage between Angela and Andrew appeared to be joyful for five years. Andrew kept a journal, but Angela never looked at it until one day, following a fight, she felt compelled to. She was surprised to discover what was within.
“I read his diary and found that Andrew repeatedly expressed his hatred for me,” Angela remarked. “He even expressed his wish for my death in his writing when I was ill.”
According to Angela, their marriage had just gone through a difficult period, but she believed they were getting past it. She never experienced fear or anxiety during that time. Nevertheless, she was devastated to discover those lines in Andrew’s diary.
Getting Out of Her Husband
It troubled Angela, the diary writings. She made the decision to move in with a friend after leaving the house with their daughter. As additional evidence, she snapped pictures of the journal pages.
“After our argument, I told him I needed some space,” Angela said. “I’ve already contacted a lawyer and spoken with my therapist.”
However, Andrew wrote her heartfelt letters after she departed, letting her know that he understood her need for space and that marital hiccups are common. His encouraging remarks made Angela question if she had made the right decision.
She’s Doubting Herself
When Angela first read the diary, she was certain that their relationship was finished, but Andrew’s messages caused her to reconsider her choice, she said. She wrote, “I’m not sure what to do.” “I thought our marriage was failing, but now I’m questioning everything.”
Attempting to Reestablish Trust
Following several days of communicating via messaging, Andrew asked Angela if they could have a face-to-face meeting. After considerable hesitation, Angela finally consented in the hopes of gaining some understanding. To discuss the situation, they got together at a peaceful café.
“He looked really worried,” Angela said. He said he missed our daughter and me. He said that he never intended for me to discover those entries in his diary and that he regretted writing them.
They talked for hours before deciding to attempt their marriage again. To address their problems and regain trust, they decided to begin family therapy.
Angela stated, “It will be a long road.” “However, we are prepared to try to make it work for our family.”
