Colleen and Ray Ferguson thought about adopting a child for a long time. They were able to finally welcome 6-year-old Ben into their lives and their house after completing a number of paperwork and waiting a long time.
The child would require some time to adjust to the new life, but the new parents were prepared to provide it to him.
Colleen was familiar with kids. She made mac and cheese for Ben because he was a comfort food lover at his age, but as soon as he finished, he requested to be left alone in his room.
After a while, Colleen went into Ben’s room because she wanted to be close to him and was startled by what she saw. Her son, whom she adopted
“Ben, whose baby is that?” she said in a shaky voice.
Ben said tensely, “She’s my sister.”
“Your sister?” Colleen sounded perplexed by this.
No, not at all. “I had to stay with her.” “I used to live at her new house,” Ben remarked.
Ben declined Colleen’s suggestion to phone foster care supervisor Mrs. Campbell. “No! She is unable to return her. My foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin, are not decent individuals!
Ben clarified that his sister would receive the same harsh treatment that he did if she returned to the foster parents.
The parents eventually persuaded Ben that he needed to rest and that they would come up with a solution.
“How are we going to proceed?” Colleen’s voice was quiet. “The youngster is unable to be with us. We will be discovered.
“I’m not sure,” Ray said. “But I don’t believe Ben is telling lies.”
Colleen and Ray woke up and asked Ben additional questions concerning the foster home he had lived with prior to his adoption. According to the youngster, they would belt him and record it.
Ray and Colleen knew they couldn’t keep the baby, so they weren’t sure what to do next, even though they told Ben they wouldn’t give up his sister.
We can’t hide her, though, Ben. Colleen remarked, “I know someone else who works for Mrs. Campbell.” “There is something we can do about this.” The pair then gave DCFS employee Alana a call. I apologize for the late call, Alana. We’re in a difficult situation.
Alana visited them after hearing Ben’s story. “Do you believe Ben is telling lies?” Ray pondered.
Alana stated, “I don’t think so.” “Children conceal the truth when they are in trouble.” She said that she sensed there was a problem with the Franklins and that “he told you that, which means he believes in you.” “Children are regularly moved from their home.”
“So, what should we do with the baby?” Colleen asked.
Alana took a stand. She said, “I’ll allow you to be her foster parents for a brief period of time.” “I’ll need to conceal it. However, it is the issue. Keep it a secret. Kindly notify me if Mrs. Campbell gives you a call or takes any other action.
After a few days, Colleen received
Then, Mrs. Campbell requested Colleen to give her a call immediately in case Ben said something unusual.
“Mom, the baby is trashing around!” Ben shouted as the two continued to talk on the phone.
When Colleen heard her son call her mother for the first time, she was ecstatic, but she was also afraid that Mrs. Campbell might have overheard Ben discuss having a baby.
The two were worried that they may face consequences for concealing the baby, so Colleen told her husband everything about the call.
Ray thought it might be Mr. Franklin when he saw a truck parked in front of their house the next day.
The three of them decided that they had to move fast when he informed Alana of that. They initially pondered contacting the police and possibly relocating to Colleen’s mother’s house, but as they were ready to change their minds, a tap on the door interrupted them.
Mrs. Campbell and the Franklins were there. “Mr. Ferguson, you know me!” she told Ray. “I’ll take your son if you don’t let us in to get that baby!”
In response, Ray said, “You wouldn’t dare! Not with everything we’ve learned about you!
Colin, the child, came forward. provided the police with all the information they required regarding the Franklins. They are currently searching their home. Mr. Franklin remains in custody. Mrs. Campbell left. However, it will only worsen her situation if she flees.
It was eventually established that the foster family was, in fact, mistreating and ignoring the youngsters entrusted to their care.
The opportunity to adopt the baby girl was presented to Colleen and Ray after this result, and they seized it.
