The 64-year-old country music icon Alan Jackson has sold over 80 million CDs and enthralled listeners with his classic country and honky-tonk songs for more than 40 years.
Resilience has been a defining characteristic of his experience, particularly since disclosing a diagnosis of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease.
a degenerative nerve disease, and mourning the passing of his son-in-law, talented Assistant District Attorney Ben Selecman.
Jackson has poured his heart into his music in spite of these setbacks, and albums such as “Where Have You Gone” (2021) and “Angels & Alcohol” (2015) reflect his own struggles.
His daughter Mattie, who also drew strength from her faith, worked with him on the song “Racing the Dark,” which is a celebration of triumphing over suffering.
In addition to writing “Lemons on Friday,” a memoir detailing her experience with sorrow and recovery, Mattie co-founded NaSHEville, an organization that empowers women in Music City.
In their moving opening, Alan and his wife Denise discuss their personal recovery journeys.
Alan is dedicated to his music in spite of his health issues. We are thankful for the happiness his music continues to bring and offer him and his family our prayers and support.
