Actor Neal McDonough recently disclosed that he started his own film company as a result of being shunned by Hollywood. Most famously, McDonough played Timothy “Dum Dum” Dugan in Captain America: The First Avenger, Malcolm Beck in Yellowstone, and most recently, General James Harding in Project Blue Book.
The Yellowstone actor, who is also a devoted Christian, has disclosed that he was placed on a Hollywood blacklist in 2010. After being sacked from ABC’s Scoundrels TV show for refusing to violate his beliefs and perform specific scenes, such as kissing and adult scenes, he “lost basically everything” as a result.
The actor claimed that at this difficult time in his career, his faith kept him positive. “I recall getting down on my knees and God has blessed me abundantly. Everybody has difficulties in life. The actor went on, “I should be thankful and grateful for all the blessings I’ve been given.” According to Bounding into Comics, McDonough has previously discussed his refusal to compromise his beliefs, thus this is not the first time he has done so.
“I won’t mention the Lord’s name in vain, and then I won’t kiss another woman,” McDonough declared in January 2020. “I don’t enjoy s-x scenes. I’m in my fifties, so I’m not sure if anyone wants to see me doing such stuff anyway, but it’s a comfort level, and I think there are plenty s-x scenes out there. He remarked, “I’m not very comfortable doing that.”
McDonough would go on to tell The Christian Post earlier this month that he makes it a point to make sure he stays memorable through his nasty performances since he doesn’t want to do those scenes. It’s challenging because I’ve played a lot of different characters and done a lot of things. In some of those roles, I play terrible villains, and I refuse to perform kissing sequences, so I have to be the best villain in the world, the actor stated.
McDonough revealed that Ruvé, his wife of over 20 years, is the primary reason he won’t kiss his co-stars. “These lips are meant for one woman,” he admitted, adding that now that the couple has started their filming project, kissing scenes won’t be an issue. As Ruvé and I are doing it ourselves, the actor declared that he now has “that opportunity because we are so blessed to have companies that support and back us and want to make more films and TV shows, or reality shows, or any kind of show that gives glory to [God].”
Our objective is to create a film that truly exalts Him, not just to make one. And we’re aiming toward that,
